A bit about me
Hi, I’m Jamila Keenadiid, a Systemic and Family Psychotherapist with a warm, collaborative, and curious style.
Becoming a therapist was a deeply personal choice for me. It came from wanting to offer others what I felt was missing in my own life—a space where they could truly feel heard, understood, and supported. These experiences have shaped how I work and help me connect with my clients on a human to human level. I approach each session with genuine empathy and opennes, wholeheartedly believing that the challenges we face can also lead us to greater resilience and positive transformation.
When I’m not working, I love spending time with my family and friends (or with myself!), diving into a good fiction book, going for walks, or catching up on a favourite TV show.
My Approach
I bring warmth, presence and curiosity to each session, tailoring the therapeutic approach to meet your unique needs as an individual, couple, or family. My work is collaborative and systemic, meaning we will work together to shape the therapeutic process, and relationship. Together, we will consider both your personal experiences and the broader dynamics shaping your life, how these interact and impact the problems you are facing.
While I prioritise curiosity and connection, I’m also comfortable being direct when it serves your well-being or relationships. I listen deeply—to what’s said and what’s not (yet) spoken—and aim to create a space that feels both supportive and brave, gently encouraging you to experiment with new perspectives and ways of being.
I welcome clients from all walks of life and strive to create a space where you feel safe, valued, and understood. Coming from a minority ethnic and religious background myself, I get that being part of a minority background can come with its own unique set of strenghts and challenges. Whether it’s managing cultural expectations, faith-related or identity struggles, I’m here to create a space where all aspects of who you are can be heard and understood. We'll consider which aspects of your identity are most important and/or most impactful in your life and the problems you are facing in a way that feels respectful to you.
What Therapy Might Look Like
I work with individuals, couples, and families who are ready to create meaningful changes in their lives and relationships. Together, we may uncover new insights about underlying drivers to bothersome symptoms or behavioural patterns, work on enhancing communication and the quality of your relationships, or explore helpful tools for navigating life’s challenges with a greater sense of control and ease.
Therapy really isn’t about having all the answers or fixing everything overnight (if only!) —it’s about slowing down and building a deeper understanding of yourself, your loved ones, and your experiences. In our first session, we’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, your hopes and goals, and begin developing a deeper understanding of your problems and needs.
Together, we’ll explore the interplay between your inner world and the cultural and relational dynamics influencing your life. This might involve gaining personal insights, zooming out to see the bigger picture, or challenging long-held assumptions. We’ll also work on practical steps to help you live a life more aligned with your goals and values.
