A bit about me
I’m Jamila Keenadiid, a Systemic and Family Psychotherapist with a warm, collaborative, and curious approach.
I believe that every person, couple, or family carries unique strengths, even in the midst of life’s deepst challenges. My work as a therapist is about creating a space where those strengths can flourish and where difficult patterns can begin to shift. For me, systemic therapy offers a way to explore the connections and contexts that shape us, helping clients find clarity, connection, and new possibilities.”
For me, therapy is a space for genuine connection and exploration—where we can uncover patterns, untangle challenges, and create new paths forward together. When I’m not in session, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, going for walks, or watching a TV programme.
My Approach
I bring warmth, flexibility and presence to each session, tailoring the process to meet your unique needs as an individual, couple, or family. My work is collaborative and systemic, meaning we’ll consider both your personal experiences and the broader dynamics shaping your life.
While I prioritise curiosity and connection, I’m also comfortable being direct when it serves your well-being or relationships. I listen deeply—to what’s said and what’s not (yet) spoken—and aim to create a space that feels both supportive and brave, encouraging you to experiment with new perspectives and ways of being.
I welcome clients from all walks of life and strive to create a space where you feel safe, valued, and understood. Coming from a Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) background myself, I get that being part of an ethnic or religious minority can come with its own unique set of challenges. Whether it’s managing cultural expectations, faith-related struggles, or just figuring out how to navigate life in a multicultural society, I’m here to create a space where all aspects of who you are can be heard and understood. If faith is important to you, I’ll work with your beliefs, spirituality, and cultural values in a way that feels right for you.
What Therapy Might Look Like
I work with individuals, couples, and families who are ready to create meaningful changes in their lives and relationships. Together, we may uncover new insights, enhance communication, strengthen the quality of your relationships, or explore tools for navigating life’s challenges with a greater sense of direction and ease.
Therapy isn’t about having all the answers or fixing everything overnight—it’s about slowing down and building a deeper understanding of yourself, your loved ones, and your experiences. In our first session, we’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, your hopes and goals, and begin developing a deeper understanding of your problems and needs.
Together, we’ll explore the interplay between your inner world and the cultural and relational dynamics influencing your life. This might involve gaining personal insights, zooming out to see the bigger picture, or challenging long-held assumptions. We’ll also work on practical steps to help you live a life aligned with your goals and values.
